The KurdDAAD scholarship program

The KurdDAAD scholarship program is run annually. It is aimed at Master’s and doctoral candidates currently studying at KRG universities. While the program is open to all academic disciplines, applications in medicine are limited to non-clinical studies (e.g. public health). The scholarship covers living expenses and tuition fees, including a six-month German language course. Master’s candidates will attend an additional preparatory course of six months before joining their degree program.

Since the scholarship program is jointly conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education of KRG and DAAD, applicants must pass two phases for admission: nomination and qualification. Only applicants nominated by MHE are eligible to apply for the qualification phase. Those who successfully pass the personal interview with the bi-national committee in Erbil will be granted a scholarship in the award phase.

Deadline: 10th August 2011

If you have been nominated for a HCDP scholarship and once you have applied for the KurdDAAD program, you will enter the qualification phase of the application process. This pre-selection does not mean you have been awarded a scholarship, but it entitles you to participate in this phase.

The MHE will transfer only complete application files to the DAAD. The deadline for the first call in the KurdDAAD program is August 10th.

You will be requested to submit documents for the DAAD to MHE-KRG to show you meet the requirements. This is the most important part of your application. DAAD’s decision will be based on the quality of your study proposals and evidence of your motivation to study in Germany.

How to apply:

Submit ONE copy each of the following:

  • Completed and signed KRG application form (PDF download)
  • For PhD applicants: a detailed description of your proposed study project  / research proposal

  • Copy of A or G passport (photo page and full name required)

TO BE ADDED TO YOUR APPLICATION OR PRESENTED DURING THE INTERVIEW (NO LATER):

  • MA applicants: Specify at least two Master’s courses of interest at German Universities

KRG will send your documents to DAAD. Your application documents, including all attachments, will become ownership of DAAD, without any compensation. No materials will be returned. That is  why we kindly ask you not to send any originals
